Last year our project was held in Awiri Health Centre II, Dokolo District, Northern Uganda over a two week period. We were be working along side of Pastor Ken Daniel and several Ugandan volunteers from New Hope Africa Children Ministry , Pastor James Oonyu and several volunteers from Christian Grace Ministries, Paul Owinno of His Healing Hands East Africa WASH project and Pastor Michael Ngitha and several Kenyan volunteers of World Harvest Mission Church. . For the first time we also partnered with mPower, a dental training organization from the United States who trained six ugandan trainees to provide basic dental care to the remote villages near where we operated clinics. The sustaning work by our Ugandan hostsafter we left has set the stage for our ministry project in 2011.
This year HHH will return to Uganda near Jinja to continue our medical, Water Hygiene training, and Dental training ministires working with the local pastorsand their congregations.
Using local translators who speak te local dialect, part of the team will register patients and record simple patient histories on patient routing slips for later diagnosis by a team medical staff member. Other members of the team will either work with local translators in triage where blood pressure, pulse, glucose test results and other vital signs will be recorded along with further patient history; in the exam rooms with local translators where the MDs will make their diagnosis and record the recommended medical prophylaxis for the patient; or in the pharmacy where the prescribed medicines will be prepared and packaged along with instructions to the patients for when and how to take their prescriptions.
